Barking Riverside Project
NHB’s Contribution to Barking Riverside Development
The Barking Riverside development is on the banks of the Thames in East London.
Once complete, it is set to deliver over 20,000 homes, making it one of Europe’s largest urban regeneration projects. Set on a site as large as Hyde Park, the development repurposes the historic land of the Barking Power Station.
NHB have made a vital contribution in ensuring the safety and functionality of this ambitious project by designing, installing and of course certifying fire-rated ductwork as well as installing state-of-the-art smoke detection and extraction systems in 16 cores accross eight blocks. Our contributions, so far, have included:
- Installing over 200 smoke detectors, ensuring comprehensive fire monitoring across the buildings.
- 100+ temperature sensors
- 80+ environmental VCDs
- 30+ smoke control dampers to maintain safe conditions in case of fire or adverse environmental changes.
- Over 150 window actuators
- 20 rain sensors
- 20 smart panels and 20 environmental control panels to manage the interconnected systems.
- 8 Automatic Opening Vents (AOVs) to facilitate smoke extraction and safe evacuation routes.
- Connecting all systems through 350+ interfaces for seamless and reliable operation.
The project’s infrastructure will support community of up to 50,000 residents.
NHB Electrical’s expertise in fire safety and environmental systems has contributed to creating a secure and sustainable environment for one of London’s most ambitious housing projects.
